Aircraft
Our pride and joy is the club-owned, multi-engined DO 28 D2 (Walter M601D). D-IEDO, as she is called, was originally built for the German Bundeswehr, being equipped with two piston engines at that time. In the nineties she was upgraded with much more powerful turbine engines and received some other modifications especially aimed for dropping skydivers.
She stands out with remarkably short take-off and landing distances and an exceptional climb rate. Getting up to 15 skydivers in about 12 minutes to 14.000ft AGL makes her the fastest aircraft used for skydiving throughout Europe.
Interesting for skydivers: The DO features a generous portside door with camerastep and easy to reach upper-head handles inside and outside. Thanks to the twin-engine setup it is possible have very little "push" at jump run.
